AC Athletics Update, 3/8/2019

Have a great Spring Break, #RooNation!  Make sure you travel safely to your destinations, and return home for the last two months of the school year so you can support our Spring Sports that look to be in “full-swing.”

Our Baseball Team split two home games with Arlington Baptist while more records fell for Kangaroo Distance Track at the Marc Randal Classic hosted by UT-TylerWomen’s Water Polo claimed their program’s first AND second victories in just their first weekend of competition, while Men’s and Women’s Tennis were rained out of their home opener before logging a result.  But a much deserved Spring Break Trip to Orlando, Florida has the ‘Roos Netters slated to face at least four opponents for each program in 3 days, including a matchup with the US Naval Academy Women’s Tennis Team.

All of this and much more to discuss in the Spring Break Edition of the AC Athletics Update!

Baseball

The Kangaroos fell in their first game to Arlington Baptist on Friday, before bouncing back and claiming the second game 9-1 to split the homestand.  AC travels to Dallas Christian today to play a double header at 12:00PM and 3:00PM before coming back tomorrow to play two more games against the Crusaders.

Softball

With their most recent competition finishing against Ecclesia on Sunday, February 17th, the weather has not been in the favor of our Kangaroos.  But with SCAC Home Competition starting up this weekend against Trinity, we hope the weather holds off so our Kangaroos can showcase all of their hard work against the Tigers.  Double-headers against TU are scheduled for 5:30 and 7:30 tonight, and 1:00 & 3:00 tomorrow.  Come out to Old Settlers Park to cheer on our ‘Roos this weekend!

Men’s & Women’s Tennis

Inclement weather did not provide enough time for either team to log a result against all three opponents last weekend, but a big slate of matches in the “Sunshine State” looks to be promising, fun and competitive for the Kangaroos, as AC plans to take on teams from all over the country.

Women’s Water Polo

Congratulations to the Women’s Water Polo Team for logging their program’s first ever victories this past weekend, defeating Wittenberg 9-6 and Carthage 15-3.  Their 14-12 “barn-burning” defeat to #10 Monmouth was an indication of how strong this team has the potential to be under the tutelage of Head Coach Mark Lawrence.  Great job, ‘Roos and good luck over Spring Break in California against Connecticut College, Cal St. Northridge, Concordia (Cal.), Occidental, Redlands, and Chapman.
