AC Athletics Update 9/14; Water Polo Inaugural Home Meet 9/15 @ 3:00PM

Our second weekend of competition is in the books, #RooNation.  We have a lot to recap, but we have an historic weekend “on deck” starting this Saturday.  Water Polo hosts its first home competition in program history against Ivy League Opponent, Brown University.  We need all of you to get to Hannah Natatorium for this “once-in-a-lifetime” opportunity, especially because it’s the only home game on the schedule for this weekend.

Football, Volleyball, and Men’s & Women’s Soccer were all in action this weekend, so let’s get to it.  This is the AC Athletics Update!

Men’s Water Polo

History will be made in Hannah Natatorium on Saturday.  For the first time in Austin College history, the Kangaroos will host a home Water Polo contest, as the Brown University Bears will come to Sherman, TX in a rematch from the September 1st meeting in Providence, Rhode Island.  The showdown will take place at 3:00PM.  The event will be live-streamed free of charge on CollegeTVTicket.com and representatives from USA Water Polo will be in attendance for the game.

Then, on Sunday, the ‘Roos will meet with the Bears on the campus of Southern Methodist University in Dallas at 1:45PM.  If you can, make it down to Dallas to show your support in person for our program at 1:45PM and 3:00PM.

  • Saturday, September 15th , 2018
    • Home vs. Brown at 3:00PM
  • Sunday, September 16th , 2018

Women’s Volleyball

After going 2-2 at home during last weekend’s Austin College Invitational with a win over visiting Linfield College on Friday, Austin College Volleyball hits the road today against Texas Lutheran University and Schreiner in Kerrville, TX.

Tomorrow, the ‘Roos will match up against Trinity University in the SCAC A-B Crossover.  Good luck opening your conference schedule, AC

  • Friday, September 14th, 2018 (Kerrville, TX)
    • Neutral vs. Texas Lutheran at 3:00PM
    • Away vs. Schreiner University at 7:00PM
  • Saturday, September 15th, 2018 (Kerrville, TX)

Women’s Soccer

Due to anticipated inclement weather, the Austin College Women’s Soccer game in San Antonio, TX against Trinity University has been moved up to 5:00PM today.  This will be the second SCAC opponent of the ‘Roos season as AC dropped a closely contested game against Johnson & Wales (CO) at home last weekend.

The Kangaroos will also travel to Kerrville, TX to take on Schreiner on Sunday, so be sure to follow @AC_WSoccer for all updates and final scores on social media.

  • Friday, September 14th , 2018
    • Away vs. Trinity at 5:00PM
  • Sunday, September 16th, 2018
    • Away vs. Schreiner at 2:00PM

Men’s Soccer

Also changing their match time from its originally scheduled kick-off is our Men’s Soccer Team.  The match is set to begin at 7:00PM in San Antonio vs. the Trinity University Tigers.  The rematch from last year’s SCAC Semi-Finals hosted by University of Dallas is sure to be an exciting one.

Sunday’s match against Schreiner will take place at 12:00PM.  We hope that the Kangaroos will be returning home with two victories in the SCAC to make their record 4-1-1 (3-1).  A close loss to Colorado College and a big victory over Johnson & Wales (CO) at home last weekend has them at 1-1 in SCAC play thus far.

  • Friday, September 14th, 2018
    •  Away vs. Trinity (Tex.) at 7:00PM
  • Sunday, September 16th , 2018
    • Away vs. Schreiner at 12:00PM

Football

Football stays on the road this weekend as they open Division III SAA Conference play on top of the mountain at Sewanee.  After dropping a close 24-14 decision on the road to Wayland Baptist, the ‘Roos will be looking for their first victory of the season against their former SCAC foe from 2006-2011 before the Tigers joined the SAA.

University of the South has one win on the year over Kenyon in their home opener, and is coming off a loss at home to Washington & Lee.  Let’s make it two-in-a-row for the Tigers and leave Tennessee with a victory, ‘Roos!

  • Saturday, September 15th , 2018
    • Away vs. Sewanee at 1:00PM

Men’s & Women’s Tennis

The events of last weekend for the Women’s Tennis Season Opener will be consolidated into the Men’s Events this weekend.  Austin College will attempt (weather permitting) to participate in the UT-Dallas Invitational with the Comets and the Eagles from Texas A&M – Texarkana in a precursor to the ITA Southwest Regional Championships over the next two weekends.
