AC Athletics Update 4/17/2019

Tournament time has officially begun, as our Women’s Water Polo Team ended their inaugural season in historic fashion, qualifying for the CWPA Championship Game.

Next up are our regionally ranked Men’s and Women’s Tennis Teams hosting the SCAC Championships on their newly reconstructed tennis courts, April 19th – 21st.

Next weekend it will be Men’s and Women’s Distance Track coming off of a strong, record-breaking performance in Commerce, TX last weekend, competing in their SCAC Championship Meet in San Antonio, TX, April 26th & 27th.

We have Baseball games to preview, as our Kangaroos travel to Seguin to take on Texas Lutheran, so let’s get to all of the action from this past weekend, and preview the SCAC Championships on campus this weekend.  It’s another Championship Edition of the AC Athletics Update!

Men’s & Women’s Tennis

The time has come…For the first time in program history, Austin College Men’s & Women’s Tennis will host the SCAC Championships as the #3-seed in both tournaments.  Friday April 19th the Women’s team will play #6 Texas Lutheran at 9:00AM on the newly reconstructed tennis courts, followed by the Men taking on the #6 Bulldogs at 2:00PM in the same location.

Our Student-Athletes have been preparing off campus for this weekend all season.  And we plan to host Senior Day on Friday following each match.  Women’s Senior Day will start no earlier than 11:00AM, and Men’s Senior Day no earlier than 4:00PM.

If you cannot make it out to support our Seniors on Friday, please support AC on Saturday, and hopefully on Sunday as all Women’s matches will start at 9:00AM, with the Men’s matches starting no earlier than 9:00AM each day.

All the tournament updates and match times will be available on Twitter: @ACRoosMWTennis.  So please find a way to come down and support the teams for at least one match.  The support of #RooNation matters a great deal to our Student-Athletes, especially when we get to perform in front of a home crowd at the Conference Tournament.

We can’t wait to see what “Year #2” holds for the program as Head Coach Mark Lawrence has done a fantastic job in preparing our Student-Athletes for success in just one season.

Softball

The Pirates of Southwestern along with the changing weather conditions were a little too tough for us to end a season with a victory, but Head Coach Kelly Sylvester has done a great job getting a competitive schedule and building a foundation for future success in her first year.

Thank you to the Women’s Softball Program for taking us through a great year, and we can hardly wait to see what next season bring us.

Tennis is hosting the SCAC Conference Championships in their inaugural matches at the new tennis facility on the northwest side of campus, while Baseball battles for their postseason lives in Seguin.
