AC Athletics Update 10/10

Hopefully you enjoyed a relaxing and safe Fall Break weekend, #RooNation.  You have done a great job supporting our Student-Athletes over the first two months of the semester, and with Fall Sports Teams wrapping up their final month of regular season competition, we’ll need your help to make the push into the post-season and the start of Winter Sports seasons.

The rain may have held off for Saturday’s Football game against Centre, but yesterday’s weather forced us to postpone yet another opportunity to support our Kangaroos in a home contest.  No matter, because our next home contest is less than 5 days away, and we have several road games for you to follow this weekend.

We’ll get to this and the results from last weekend.  It’s this week’s installment of the AC Athletics Update!

Women’s Volleyball

After last Wednesday’s victory over Mid-American Christian, the Kangaroo Volleyball Team took the weekend to prepare for their opportunities to pick up valuable SCAC victories in Colorado Springs this Friday and Saturday against Johnson & Wales University, Colorado College, Dallas and Southwestern.  Safe travels, and good luck ‘Roos!

Their first game will be against George Washington University at 5:00PM on Friday, October 12th.  Saturday, they take on MIT at Johns Hopkins University at 10:30AM, with several games scheduled TBD for the rest of the weekend.  Follow @ACSports and @AustinCollegeWP for updates on scheduling and opponents throughout.

Hannah Richards placed seventh overall in the Women’s 5K event, and the Kangaroos finished 8th out of 10 as a team.

This weekend, they will square off against several Division III programs in the University of Dallas InvitationalMen’s 5K will begin at 9:00AM, and Women’s 5K is set to begin at 9:45AM

Football

Centre played a tough game throughout a 38-20 defeat in Jerry Apple Stadium, but our Kangaroos put together several impressive drives against an opponent that currently sits at 5-1 in the SAA.  And did you see that Colt Collins pass caught by Adonis Martin in the back-left corner of the North endzone?  That looked like something we see on Sundays.

The Millsaps Majors are next on the schedule, as the ‘Roos travel to Jackson, MS.  Good luck, AC.  Kickoff is scheduled for 2:00PM Central this Saturday.

Men’s Soccer

As previously mentioned, the Men’s Soccer Game at the Dr. Jack Pierce Memorial Soccer Complex against Dallas has been cancelled this evening.  However, AC hosts UT-Dallas at home on Monday, so keep your fingers crossed for good weather this weekend so our ‘Roos can build off of their victory this past weekend over Johnson & Wales.  The SCAC Championships are right around the corner.

Women’s Soccer

The trip to Colorado this past weekend ended with a 3-1 defeat to Johnson & Wales, and our home game against Dallas has been cancelled tonight, but the Kangaroo Women’s Soccer Team returns to competition on the road at LeTourneau on Tuesday.

Home games return to the Dr. Jack Pierce Memorial Soccer Complex next weekend.  So get ahead of your academics so you can join us for two SCAC matches and “Senior Day” on Sunday, October 21st.

No home contests this weekend, which will give you plenty of time to focus on academics after recharging your batteries over fall break.  Plenty of home contests return to campus next weekend as Fall Sports begin to wind down to the end of their regular seasons, so make sure you follow all of our Social Media Accounts to stay current with all results and scheduling changes…
