We're less than a month away from Legends Weekend 2017, and there's still time to register to attend this fantastic event!
This year, Legends Weekend will be held August 4-6 on the campus of Austin College. This will kick off with the 'Roo Reception in the Pouch Club, located in the Wright Campus Center, on Friday, August 4. The event will run from 7:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., in a casual get-together to meet with old friends and new from around 'Roo Nation.
The big event of the weekend is the Legends Dinner and Awards Presentation, held on Saturday, August 5 in Sid Richardson Center in the Mason Athletic Complex. The doors will open at 4:00 p.m., with 2016's Hall of Honor inductees being recognized at 4:30 p.m., as last year's Awards Presentation was canceled due to power outages.
At 5:30 p.m., the dinner reception will begin, and the 2017 Hall of Honor class will be recognized at 6:30 p.m. This year's Hall of Honor inductees include Paul Alexander '60, Dale Huggins '95, Maggie Roe '95, Bob Sheffield '70, Jeff Timmons '85, and Katy Williams '10. Honorary inductees this year include the late Dr. Jack Pierce, Dr. John Prudich '78, and Dr. E. Don Williams, while this year's Coach Joe Spencer Award for Meritorious Service and Lifetime Achievement in Coaching will be presented to Mike Sorrells '65. We will also recognize this year's Kedric Couch Coach of the Year, with this year's recipient to be announced soon!
Finally, the weekend wraps up with the 35th Annual Slats McCord Golf Tournament, to be held at Stone Creek Country Club in Sherman on Sunday, August 6 with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start.
