This Week in AC Athletics, 3/19 - 3/25

It’s been a while, #RooNation.  Our apologies for the delay in these updates, but we have had a lot going on this month that we want to share with you as we get back on top of our Spring Sports schedules.

Men’s & Women’s Tennis just came back from their spring break trip to Portland, OR with a few wins, Baseball is .500 this season with their Conference Schedule ahead of them, Softball is “knee-deep” in their SCAC Schedule, and Distance Track has their first meet since the last Update.

Rather than spend any more time previewing this edition, let’s get to the recaps and upcoming contests so you can support our ‘Roos at home and away.  It’s time for the AC Athletics Update!

Women’s Tennis

Currently at 7-5 on the season, the Kangaroo Women’s Tennis Team performed well on the road in Portland, OR this past weekend.  The ‘Roos took 2 matches from regionally ranked #17 Pacific and #12 George Fox.  The latter of the two ended in exciting fashion as First-Year Chandler Morris clinched the match over the Bruins 6-3, 7-6(4) as the last match on court, tied 4-4.

First-Year Melody Duong upset the #50 Singles Player in the Nation during her match vs. Lewis & Clark, and earned SCAC Singles Player-of-the-Week honors in the process.

Austin College has five matches on the road this weekend against 2 Nationally Ranked opponents.  The first match is on the campus of Trinity University in San Antonio, TX against #40 CalTech.  First serve is set for 4:00PM.  All of the action will be posted on @ACRoosMWTennis for those of you not able to watch in person.

Men’s Tennis

After last weekend’s thrilling victory over Linfield with First-Year Preston Spivey clinching the match for the ‘Roos as the last court on with the match tied 4-4, Austin College followed up their success in Portland by taking 2/3 doubles courts from #35 CalTech at home on Monday.

The Beavers won 7-2 when the dust settled, but the trip to Portland was a success to come back and perform as well as they did against such a tough team.

The Men’s Tennis Team has 4 matches coming up on the road, 2 of which are against Nationally Ranked competition.  A rematch in San Antonio against #15 Trinity University will start the 4-match slate on Friday, March 23rd at 3:30PM.

With Southwestern hosting Austin College on the road this weekend, there will be four great opportunities for the ‘Roos to make an early push for the conference championships at the end of April.  Follow @ACRoosSoftball for updates, results, and action shots of the games.
