This Week in AC Athletics, 2/5 - 2/11

Two-out-of-three Spring Sports will be in action this weekend as we wind down Winter Sports over the next two weeks.  Women’s Basketball stays on their tear through the SCAC in search of their second Regular Season Conference Championship in 3 years, and Softball plays their first home games of the year this weekend.

Regionally ranked Men’s and Women’s Tennis go on the road against some tough competitors before their home opener next weekend.

Let’s preview all the sports in action this weekend while recapping the events of last week.  It’s the AC Athletics Update!

Softball

The Kangaroos fell twice on the road to S’Western Assemblies on Saturday, but look to bounce back in their home opening weekend against Division III competition starting Friday, 2/9 against Howard Payne University and 2/10 against Hendrix College.

Make sure to follow AC Softball on twitter via @ACRoosSoftball for all updates and photos, and come out to Old Settlers Park to support your ‘Roos and take in some of the action!

The ‘Roos sit atop the conference standings at 17-5 (10-1 SCAC) with only 3 games remaining; the last of which is at home against Centenary on 2/17.  Mark your calendars for that final opportunity to catch your Kangaroos in action this regular season, and follow @roos_hoops for all updates in pre- and post-game.

After closing the fall season with an exclamation point at the ITA Fall Regional Singles & Doubles Tournaments, the Austin College Women’s Tennis Team takes their show on the road to Abilene, TX to begin the spring campaign.

The Kangaroos (#15 in the West) will face two regionally ranked opponents in Hardin-Simmons University (#11 in the West) and McMurry University (#14 in the West) after playing Howard Payne University in the spring opener. All match live-tweets can be found on twitter and Instagram via @ACRoosMWTennis.

Make sure you keep next Saturday, February 17th open, as the ‘Roos host their home opener against East Texas Baptist University at 9:00AM .  The Tigers women’s tennis team is defending ASC champions, rank #34 in the nation and #5 in the West.  This will be the first nationally ranked Division III opponent to visit Austin College in over 4 years.  Stick around for the second half of the day’s double-header as Whitworth University (#17 in the West) completes what should be a difficult gauntlet for the ‘Roos.
