This Week in AC Athletics, 2/26 - 3/4

Happy “first-day-of-March,” #RooNation.  Hopefully all of that nonsense weather stays in February as we have warmer forecasts and Spring Break to anticipate.

All of our Winter Sports Teams have concluded their seasons this past weekend, so it’s time to get you updated on all of our Spring Sports Teams schedules, updates, and recaps as we move toward the midpoint of this semester.  It’s time for the AC Athletics Update!

Distance Track

                An historic day at the Trinity Invitational last weekend for the AC Distance Track Team.  The Kangaroo Runners set personal bests and broke 30-year old school records in the process.

Hannah Richards broke the program record for the 5000-meter event by over twelve seconds, set back in 1989 by Lisa LuckyHannah’s time is now 19:24.17.

Chris Biffar finished 22nd is the 1500-meter race with a time of 4:28.91, and added a 13th place finish in the 5000-meter event.

Austin College returns to the track in Tyler, TX this weekend at the Mark Randle Classic.  Follow @ACRoosXCTrack to follow all the results.

  • Friday, March 2nd, 2018 (Tyler, TX)
    • Mark Randle Classic on the campus of UT-Tyler

Baseball

                The weather took away all home games against Louisiana College last week, so the ‘Roos close out the month of February undefeated.

                AC is currently in Alpine, TX in anticipation for the Baseball triple-header against Sul Ross State.  Make sure to follow @ACSports for all updates and stats.

  • Friday, March 2nd, 2018

  • Saturday, March 3rd, 2018
    • Away vs. Sul Ross State @ 12:00PM & 3:00PM

Women’s Tennis

                The Kangaroo Women’s Tennis Team made a valiant effort against Millsaps College in their only contest of the weekend, but fell 5-4 to the Majors.

                After going up 2-1 in doubles play, the Kangaroos struggled to find singles victories at Lines 1-5.  Anna Sergiovanni closed out a big 2nd set tiebreak to win Line 3 singles 6-2, 7-6(8-6), and Grace Ortiz brought the margin of victory to within 1 with her 6-3, 6-2 performance at Line 6.

                This weekend, the ‘Roos travel to East Texas to take on the West-13th ranked Patriots of UT-Tyler and the YellowJackets of LeTourneau. All of the action will be posted on @ACRoosMWTennis for those of you not able to make the trip.

Men’s Tennis

The Men’s Tennis Team was rained out of both contests this past weekend, but tomorrow looks beautiful for a national ranked contest at #26 UT-Tyler and at LeTourneau University.

Weather permitting on Sunday, the Kangaroos will host UT-Dallas in a rematch from the 5-4 thriller last season against the Comets. Follow @ACRoosMWTennis for all of the live action and score updates on the day of the event.

    • Home vs. UT-Dallas @ 3:00PM

Softball

                The Softball Team was only able to get 1 game in this past weekend; an 8-0 defeat to Millsaps on the road.  With no games this weekend, AC will be anticipating their trip to Belhaven on Tuesday, March 6th.  Follow @ACRoosSoftball for updates.

Women’s Basketball

                We were all so proud to see Women’s Basketball fight as hard as they did this season.  With several program-bests occurring this year, it’s hard to see an overtime defeat in the semi-finals to Southwestern as a loss.  This young squad will be back better than ever next year with reigning Coach of the Year Michelle Filander, and reigning co-Player of the Year Bryce Frank.  Congratulations on a great season, Kangaroos.  Keep your eyes on the start of next season and continue to make us proud.

A rare weekend with everyone on the road this Friday and Saturday.  @ACRoosMWTennis is at home on Sunday against UT-Dallas, but that is your only home contest this weekend.  Make sure you come on out to support your Kangaroo Men’s Tennis Team against the Comets at 3:00PM.

With so many teams competing away, let’s take a moment to remind you where to look for updates on social media during your study breaks…

@ACRoosMWTennis : M & W Tennis

@ACRoosBsb : Baseball

@ACRoosSoftball: Softball

@ACRoosXCTrack: Distance Track

And as always, when supporting the ‘Roos, home, away, and on social media…
