This Week in AC Athletics, 11/6 - 11/12

This Week in AC Athletics, 11/6 - 11/12

Football is in its last week of the regular season, and Basketball is set to begin next week.  The temperatures are dropping, and Thanksgiving Break is right around the corner.

Let’s recap last week’s successes and this weekend’s opportunities in one of the last few Fall Sport Austin College Athletics Update!

Men’s Soccer

The Men’s Soccer Team qualified for the semi-finals in the SCAC Conference Tournament in exciting fashion, drawing Texas Lutheran 0-0 through 2OT, and claiming a 5-4 shootout victory over the Bulldogs.

In the Conference Semi-Finals, the Kangaroos had Trinity on the ropes 1-0 through 84 minutes.  But alas, two penalty kick goals for TU, both in the final 6 minutes of regulation, resulted in Trinity prevailing 2-1 and advancing to the Conference Finals.

At 8-7-5 (6-5-3 SCAC), Men’s Soccer has had one of the best years in its illustrious program history.  For the returners and for Coach Mark Hudson, next year begins today.  The program has turned a corner in a positive direction, and we thank our seniors as they conclude their competitive careers for all of their hard work and sacrifice.

Men’s and Women’s Swimming & Diving

The Kangaroo Swimming & Diving Teams have a won their dual meet against the University of the Ozarks, but fell to a tough Colorado College swim team last weekend.

Coming up this week is a big SCAC Meet against the Pirates of Southwestern University, so make sure to come to the Mason Complex and cheer on our Swimmers at 11AM on Saturday.

Women’s Volleyball

After falling 3-1 to Texas Lutheran in the quarterfinals on Friday, the Kangaroo Women’s Volleyball Team bounced back to claim 5th-place in the Conference Tournament with a win over Centenary on Saturday.

We take a moment to thank our 6 seniors for all of their contributions to making the Volleyball program what it is today, and we are excited to see what the returners and Head Coach Ed Garza have in store for us a mere 8 months from now.

Women’s Soccer

The ‘Roos fought Texas Lutheran in the quarterfinals of the SCAC Conference Tournament, but fell 3-0 when the final whistle sounded.

Big things are coming for the Austin College Women’s Soccer.  We are excited to see what the 4-14-1 (3-8-1 SCAC) Kangaroos and Head Coach David Sheridan will build upon for next season while thanking the seniors for everything they have done as they exit their competitive careers.

Football

The Football Team fell 49-35 to the Trinity Tigers in a nail-biter night game on the road in San Antonio.  AC compiled 332 yards through the air, but Trinity’s 368 yards rushing was the tipping point.

In their final contest of the regular season, the Kangaroos travel to Memphis, TN to take on Rhodes College tomorrow.  Kickoff is set for 1PM.

Women’s Cross Country

By finishing 4th in the SCAC, the Women’s Kangaroo Cross Country Team will travel to compete the NCAA Regional Cross-Country Meet in Virginia tomorrow.

Hannah Richards will look to improve on her stellar finish in the Conference Championship Meet last weekend, and Eden Llamas and Alex Quinn will compete for their competitive careers once again on the biggest stage Women’s XC has seen in program history.

The Top-2 Teams will travel to Nationals, and the Top-12 Finishers not on a qualifying team will be included as well.

With Swimming & Diving the only team at home this weekend, make your way out to Hannah Natatorium for that dual meet against Southwestern at 11AM.  Keep an eye out for updates on Women’s XC and Football as well by following @ACsports, @ACRoosXCTrack and @RoosFootball

And as always, when out supporting the Roos, at home, away, or on social media…
