This Week in AC Athletics, 10/30 - 11/5

Fall sports are in Championships-Mode, #RooNation!  First round action looks to be all Kangaroos vs. Bulldogs in three sports, with Football taking on a familiar rival in a night game this Saturday.

Let’s recap last week’s successes and this weekend’s opportunities in one of the last few Fall Sport Austin College Athletics Update!

Women’s Volleyball

Senior Night went well for the Women’s Volleyball Team as we paid tribute to 6 seniors on this year’s squad with two victories over Jarvis Christian and Arlington Baptist. Thank you President Steven & Cecelia O’Day for being there to show your support!

And after going 2-1 on the road in non-conference play this weekend, the Kangaroos locked up the #5-seed in this weekend’s SCAC Conference Tournament in Kerrville, TX.

AC takes on the #6-seed Texas Lutheran Bulldogs in the first round; a team they faced twice this regular season to 3-0 and 3-1 defeats.  Hopefully the third time is a charm in the SCAC Quarterfinals.  Good luck, ‘Roos!

In finishing their season at 8-6-4 (6-5-3 SCAC), the Kangaroos enter as the 4th-seed and will face 5th-seeded Texas Lutheran this Friday in Irving, TX.  Play hard & play fast, ‘Roos.  We’re rooting for you.

Men’s and Women’s Swimming & Diving

The Kangaroo Swimming & Diving Teams have a double-dual meet scheduled against Colorado College and University of the Ozarks this weekend, so make sure you come out on Saturday, November 4th to support them against a familiar SCAC opponent, and a neighboring ASC foe!

Football

Coming off a “bye” this past week, the ‘Roos have a big trip to San Antonio, TX planned for this weekend where they will face the 5-2 (4-1 SAA) Trinity Tigers on their senior day.  Nothing would be better than to pick up a road win from a familiar foe in their final home contest of the year.

And if you happen to be in the San Antonio area, make sure you RSVP to Kristi Lucchese (klucchese@austincollege.edu) to join Director of Athletics – David Norman and other friends, family, and alumni for a pregame get together at Barbaro from 3:00PM to 5:30PM!

    • Away vs. Trinity University @ 6:00PM

Men’s and Women’s Cross Country

The Women’s Kangaroo Cross Country Team placed 4th in the SCAC Championship meet this past Saturday.  With just 12 points separating the Roos from 3rd place, this was the strongest showing the team has had in program history.

Hannah Richards was the top runner outside of first place Trinity University and second place Colorado College with a time of 23:08 in Women’s 6K.

The Men’s Cross Country Team placed 6th in their 8-Kilometer event, with Johnny Biffar breaking the school record with a time of 27:18.

This past weekend’s event was the last of the year for the XC Teams, with Distance Track as the focal point for runners from now until April.
