This Week in AC Athletics, 10/16 - 10/22

This Week in AC Athletics, 10/16 - 10/22

Basketball has started their practices and Swimming & Diving held their first dual meet of the season, #RooNation.  And when Winter Sports are starting up, that means Fall Sports are concluding their regular seasons.

Football will be the first Fall Team to host Senior Day this year, as the game this weekend will serve as an opportunity for both a home victory and a chance to honor our seniors.

Volleyball and Men’s and Women’s Soccer will follow suit next week, but we have plenty of Homecoming results to share with you from this past weekend.

Let’s get your calendar filled up with all the action ahead this week and next with this edition of the AC Athletics Update!

Men’s Soccer

The Kangaroos picked up a point at home against Colorado College on Friday, and dropped at 4-0 decision to University of Dallas on Sunday, moving AC to 6-5-4 (4-4-3 SCAC) on the year.

In the process, the ‘Roos clinched their spot in the SCAC Championships to be held in November.  With two games on the road this weekend, mark your calendars for a huge home match on Saturday, October 28th against Centenary College that will serve as both Senior Day and the end of the regular season.

The ‘Roos now sit at 4-11 (3-6 SCAC) with only 3 matches remaining.  Keep an eye out for a huge Senior Day matchup against Centenary College on Saturday, September 28 at 5:00pm.  This will be the last opportunity to catch the Kangaroos play at home this regular season.

The win over the Majors was the first Southern Athletic Association victory in Austin College history, with three more opportunities to get road SAA wins left this season.

This weekend’s game against Birmingham Southern will be the last home game of the year, and will serve as Senior Day to honor all of commitment our veterans have put in over their four years.  Make sure to come out to Jerry E. Apple Stadium and support the ‘Roos against the Panthers.

With a road SCAC quadruple header on the schedule for this weekend, Senior Night will take place in less than a week with Jarvis Christian and Arlington Baptist invading Hughey Gym on Tuesday of next week.  Get your studying done early so you can make a plan to honor our veterans in their final home contests.

With only two weeks left to the regular season, Austin College will train hard this weekend in anticipation for the SCAC Championships in Seguin, TX on Saturday, October 28th.

Men’s and Women’s Swimming & Diving

The Men’s Team crushed the visiting Warhawks in their season opener 129-54, as the Women’s Team fell to 0-1 in dual meets on the year in a close defeat to McMurry 103-97.

Austin College returns to the pool in a double dual opportunity against Colorado College and The University of the Ozarks on Saturday, November 4th at 1:00PM

Football is the only team at home this weekend, and they will be hosting Senior Day vs. Birmingham Southern.  With so few contests available at home, this is a prime opportunity to get ahead of your academic requirements so you can make time to come out and support Volleyball and Soccer next weekend as they host their last home contests.

Thank you for all of your continued support; alumni, students, faculty, and staff.  And as always, when out supporting the Roos, at home, away, or on social media…
