This Week in AC Athletics, 10/9 - 10/15 : Homecoming / Family Weekend Edition

It’s Homecoming/Family Weekend, #RooNationAustin College Alumni from several graduating classes will be seen around campus and at our Homecoming 2017 events this weekend, so let’s make them proud both on and off the field and court by welcoming them warmly.

In the meantime, we have to recap a monster weekend for the Women’s Volleyball Team, Cross Country, and Men’s Soccer before updating you on the start times of the weekend’s competitions.  This is the Homecoming Edition of the AC Athletics Update!

Women’s Volleyball

In their road trip out to California, the Volleyball Team went 3-1 with a big victory over the #14 University of La Verne Leopards to move to 17-7 on their season.

The ‘Roos are back on the road this week in Colorado Springs, CO in an SCAC triple-header.  Keep them in your thoughts as they only have seven more SCAC matches left before the tournament begins.

  • Friday, October 13th, 2017 (Colorado Springs, CO)
    • Neutral vs. Centenary College at 5:00PM
  • Saturday, October 14th, 2017 (Seguin, TX)
    • Away vs. Colorado College at 1:30PM
    • Neutral vs. University of Dallas at 4:00PM

Men’s Soccer

The Kangaroos posted a win over Southwestern on the pitch last weekend 2-0, and now sit at 6-4-3 (4-3-2 SCAC) on the season.

Tonight, they host a “Pink Out” game in support of the breast cancer awareness initiative that takes place through the month of October.  Fans are encouraged to post a “selfie” on Friday at 7PM wearing pink and tagging @ACSports on Instagram or using the hashtag #ACkicksitpink as part of a $50 Visa Gift Card raffle opportunity.  The winner will be announced at halftime.

The ‘Roos will also host University of Dallas on Sunday this weekend, so make a plan to come out to the Jack Pierce Memorial Soccer Field this weekend and support the “Starting XI.”

    • Home vs. Colorado College at 7:00PM
  • Sunday, October 15th, 2017

Men’s & Women’s Cross Country

The Kangaroos returned from the ETBU D-III Invitational this weekend as they placed 4th overall on the Women’s side and had two Top-5 finishes from Eden Llamas and Hannah Richards.

University of Dallas is hosting an individual meet tomorrow morning in Irving, TX, and hopefully will serve as another successful opportunity in their last competition prior to the SCAC Championships at the end of the month.

  • Saturday, October 14th, 2017 (Irving, TX)
    • University of Dallas Invitational – 5K
      • Women at 9:00AM

Football

The Gridiron Kangaroos find themselves at 2-4 (0-4 SAA) on the season with an opportunity to get their second home victory this weekend against the Millsaps Majors.

Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00PM at Jerry Apple Stadium, and the Outback will definitely be a buzz of activity before the game.  Hopefully everyone will take the opportunity to spend Homecoming and Family Weekend with the ‘Roos.

    • Home vs. Millsaps College at 1:00PM

Women’s Soccer

The Women’s Soccer Team will host the University of Dallas this Sunday as part of Homecoming and Family Weekend.

The ‘Roos defeated the Crusaders in late September 1-0 on the road, and are looking for their second home victory of the season as they move through the last month of their schedule.

  • Sunday, October 15, 2017
    • Home vs. University of Dallas, 12:00PM

Men’s & Women’s Tennis

The Kangaroo Men’s Tennis Team attended their ITA Southwest Regional Championships on the campus of Trinity University two weekends ago.  No result was more impressive than the fact that Austin College was the only SCAC School left in either A-Draw Singles or A-Draw Doubles on the final day of competition.

This was the first time the Kangaroos were the flag-bearer at the event for the conference, and shows their improvement relative to their conference opponents.  With Safe Rahman winning the C-Singles draw and becoming the first “Main Draw” ITA champion in Division III program history, and Siddharth Kortikere/Kenneth Hardy making the semi-finals of A-Doubles, the sky is the limit for the ‘Roos in the spring.

With the Homecoming/Family Weekend festivities happening tonight, and the plethora of opportunities to catch the Kangaroos in action all weekend, we hope that you all have a great time celebrating multiple decades of Austin College all over campus, #RooNation.

And as always, when out supporting the Roos, at home, away, or on social media…

Be Loud

Be Proud

Be Positive

GO ‘ROOS!
