This Week in AC Athletics, 10/23 - 10/29

We’re in the last full week of October, #RooNation.  Soon Basketball and Swimming & Diving will be in full swing, and before you know it, we will be at semester’s end.

But before we get too far ahead of ourselves, Football has two more road games against familiar foes over the next three weeks, and Volleyball and Men’s & Women’s Soccer host their senior nights tonight and Saturday.

Let’s recap last week’s results and fill you in on the official start times for our home contests this weekend with this edition of the AC Athletics Update!

Women’s Volleyball

Austin College went 1-3 on the weekend in Shreveport, LA to fall to 20-11 (6-8 SCAC).  In the process, the Kangaroos logged their 20th consecutive season with 20 wins or more.

Senior Night will take place tonight with Jarvis Christian and Arlington Baptist invading Hughey Gym at 4PM and 8PM.  Hopefully you got your studying done early so you can make a plan to honor our distinguished veteran athletes in their final home contests tonight.

    • Home vs. Arlington Baptist @ 8:00PM

Men’s and Women’s Cross Country

The Kangaroo Cross Country Teams have been training hard these past two weeks in anticipation for the SCAC Championships to begin in Seguin, TX on Saturday, October 28th.  If you see a ‘Roo Runner over the next few days, make sure to give them positive encouragement to finish the regular season strong.

  • Saturday, October 21st, 2017 (Seguin, TX)
    • SCAC Conference Championship Meet
      • Men’s 8K @ 9AM
      • Women’s 6K @ 10AM

Women’s Soccer

The ‘Roos dropped two games on the road to Schreiner and Trinity this past weekend.   But as other matches reached full-time, the Kangaroos clinched a berth into the SCAC Conference Championships to take place in November.

Austin College now sits at 4-13 (3-8 SCAC) with only 1 match remaining.  Make sure to attend Senior Day against Centenary College on Saturday, October 28 at 5:00pm.  This will be the last opportunity to catch the Kangaroos play at home this regular season.

  • Saturday, October 28, 2017
    • Home vs. Centenary College @ 5:00PM

Men’s Soccer

After picking up a victory over Schreiner on the road, the Men’s Soccer Team sealed their place as the 4th-seed entering in the SCAC Conference Championships that will begin in November.

But there is one more opportunity to catch your Kangaroos in action at home.  Mark your calendars for a huge home match on Saturday, October 28th against Centenary College.  The contest against the Gents will serve as both Senior Day and the end of the regular season.

  • Saturday, October 28th, 2017
    • Home vs. Centenary College at 7:00PM

Football

After a tough loss to Birmingham Southern College in their final home contest, the Kangaroos now find themselves at 3-5 (1-5 SAA) with two games left to go.

A “bye” this week will afford the ‘Roos extra time to prepare for a big trip to San Antonio, TX where they will face the 5-2 (4-1 SAA) Trinity Tigers on their senior day.  Good luck and work hard this week, AC, because nothing would be better than to pick up a road win from a familiar foe in their final home contest of the year.

Volleyball, and Men’s & Women’s Soccer host Senior Day in their final home contests of the year this week.

Senior Day for Volleyball vs. Jarvis Christian and Arlington Baptist is set to begin at 4PM & 8PM tonight.

Senior Day for Women’s Soccer begins at 5PM on Saturday and concludes at 7PM with the Men’s matches against Centenary.

Thank you to all of you who took the time to honor our seniors on the Football Team this weekend.  We hope you will do the same tonight and Saturday.  And as always, when out supporting the Roos, at home, away, or on social media…
