SHERMAN, Texas – Austin College has named Jeff Kelly the Director of Athletics Communications, athletics director David Norman has announced. Kelly has served as the College's Sports Information Coordinator since 2005.
"I'm very happy to be able to name Jeff to this position," said Norman. "The field of sports information has evolved significantly in the time Jeff has been at Austin College, and it continues to evolve on an almost daily basis. Jeff has helped keep us at the forefront of these changes as the landscape becomes driven more by digital and social media markets. This position better reflects all that Jeff does, and has done, for our programs throughout his time here."
A 2003 graduate of Syracuse University, Kelly came to Sherman in 2005, and during his time at Austin College spearheaded the creation of the College's athletics website, acroos.com, in 2012, as well as its redesign in 2015. He has also overseen the creation of each of the athletics department's social media platforms, and implemented the use of live statistics, as well as live video broadcasts in a partnership with CollegeTVTicket.com
Kelly is an active member of CoSIDA, and has twice served as the chair of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference's Sports Information Director's Council. This has all been done in conjunction with overseeing the media relations and coverage of each of Austin College's 16 varsity sports, including keeping statistics and writing press releases, in addition to designing and creating game day programs, schedule posters, and other promotional materials. He is also responsible for video content on the College's website.
Kelly came to Austin College after having served as the Sports Information Assistant at Roger Williams University in Bristol, Rhode Island in 2004-2005, and the Sports Information Intern at the national office of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics in Kansas City in 2003-2004.
Austin College athletic teams participate as a member of the NCAA Division III and the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.
